Oh, Chelsea!

Chelsea Handler‘s pal Reese Witherspoon welcomed her third child, a son named Tennessee James, on Thursday, and just prior to giving birth, was jokingly mocked for her pregnancy curves by the comic.

“I don’t know why my friend Reese Witherspoon is so f—ing fat right now. I told her, ‘You are getting out of control!’ She’s like, ‘I’m having a baby!'” Handler, 37, said during a Chelsea Lately roundtable discussion on September 25, two days before Witherspoon welcomed her newborn.

“I’m like, ‘It doesn’t matter.’ You’re not eating for two, you’re eating for 1.1,” Handler continued of her BFF and This Means War costar.

Tennessee James is Witherspoon’s first child with husband Jim Toth, whom she wed in March 2011. The newborn joins big sister Ava, 12, and brother Deacon, 8, Witherspoon’s kids with ex Ryan Phillippe. “Both mom and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled,” the actress’ rep told Us Weekly on Thursday.

Braving the Georgia summer heat to film her next project, The Devil’s Knot, as her pregnancy progressed, Witherspoon — who told The Chicago Sun Times in June that she felt “very round” at the time — has longed to have children with her new husband.

“Before Jim met Reese, he wasn’t sure about having kids,” a source told Us Weekly in March of the CAA agent, 41. “Being around her kids has really shown him what it’s all about.” Confirms another source: “Settling down with Jim and raising a family is what [Reese] wanted.”
