Floyd “Chip” Ganassi, Jr. (born May 24, 1958) is an American racecar driver and racecar owner. Chip Ganassi Racing, which runs teams in the IndyCar Series, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and Tudor United SportsCar Championship, is presently owned and operated by him. After a collaboration with Dale Earnhardt, Inc. in 2009, his NASCAR business was previously known as Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. Four Indianapolis 500 races and nine IndyCar Series titles, five Rolex 24 At Daytonas and six GRAND-AM championships, and one Daytona 500 have been won by his teams. Jamie McMurray won the Daytona 500 in a Ganassi-owned car on February 14, 2010, and Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 in a Ganassi-owned car on May 30, 2010, making Ganassi the first owner to win both races in the same year, joining Roger Penske as the only owners to win both races all time. Chip Ganassi became the first team owner to win the “Triple Crown” in American auto racing when McMurray won the Brickyard 400 on July 25, 2010. His GRAND-AM team won the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 30, 2011, making Ganassi the first owner to win the Daytona 500, the Indy 500, the Brickyard 400, and the 24 Hours of Daytona all in the same year.
